The Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany commemorated the 64th death anniversary of the Servant of God RFC Mascarenhas on 23 December 2024. A solemn Eucharistic celebration was held at 9.00am in Sebastian's Church, Bendur, drawing a large number of devotees and Bethany Sisters. Rev Fr Walter D’Souza the Parish Priest of Bendur presided over the Eucharist and preached a befitting homily with unction and devotion. In his homily, he applauded the unwavering missionary zeal of the Servant of God and his pioneering works for the Kingdom of God in the length and breadth of the Diocese of Mangalore and elsewhere in India and abroad. He also explained how the vision of a single person has made a difference through the ministries of Bethany Sisters.
The gracious presence of Rev Fr Lawrence Cutinho, Rev Fr Denzil Lobo, Rev Fr Maxim Rosario, Rev Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza and Rev Fr Chetan Lobo OFM Cap as concelebrants brought much joy and blessings on the gathered faithful.
The celebration of the Mass was followed by floral tribute to the Servant of God at his tomb by Rev Fr Walter D’Souza the Parish Priest, Rev Sr Rose Celine BS, Superior General of Bethany together with Dr Lourdes and Mr Lancelot the family members of Mgr RFC Mascarenhas. In addition, Mr Vinod, the Vice President of Bendur Parish, representatives of BLA, teachers, Altar servers, Novices and Bethany Sisters joined in offering tribute to the Servant of God through floral showers to the tune of “Monsignor Raymond Bapa.”
We pray that God raises the Servant of God to the honours of the Altar.
