63^rd death Anniversary of the Servant of God Mgr Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas, former Vicar General of the diocese of Mangalore, Founder Parish Priest of St Sebastian Church Bendur and the Founder of Bethany Congregation was celebrated on 23^rd December 2023 with a thanksgiving Eucharist at St Sebastian Church Bendur at 9.00 am.

Very Rev Fr Joseph Martis, Parish Priest, Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail as the main celebrant along with nine other con-celebrants arrived the altar to the melodious entrance hymn. The Holy Mass was attended by a good number of enthusiasts from the parish community, students and teachers from Bethany Schools, the Bethany sisters and sisters from other Congregations.

At the introduction, Sr Shaila BS, Central Delegation Superior enumerated the faith journey of the Servant of God RFC Mascarenhas that led him to plunge into God’s mission of love and compassion through various apostolates. Rev Fr Joseph Martis, in his homily explicated the Word of God connecting it to the life and mission of the Servant of God who with a pure heart tried to do God’s will. He further illustrated how RFC Mascarenhas without knowing the future ventured into actions with undaunted courage coupled with the attitude of humility before God.

Sr Anna Maria, Provincial Councillor proposed vote of thanks at the end of the Eucharistic celebration. After the recessional hymn, all recited the prayer for the beatification of the Servant of God RFC Mascarenhas. Rev Fr Vincent Monteiro, Parish Priest Bendur, Rev Sr Rose Celine, Superior General of Bethany Congregation and a chosen few members laid wreathes on the tomb of the Servant of God as a mark of honour and devotion. Delicious cake sweetened the mouth of all the participants after the celebration.
